KATAKLYSM: Completes recording new album

Canadian death metallers KATAKLYSM have completed the recording process for their new album, "Heaven's Venom", for an August 24 release (one day earlier internationally) via Nuclear Blast Records. The follow-up to 2008's "Prevail" was produced by KATAKLYSM guitarist Jean-Francois Dagenais (MALEVOLENT CREATION, MISERY INDEX) and is currently being mixed by Tue Madsen (THE HAUNTED, MNEMIC, DARK TRANQUILLITY).

"It's done!" exclaimed Dagenais. "The recording for our new album, 'Heaven's Venom', is complete. Everything you wish for in a KATAKLYSM album is here and some unexpected musical adventures as well. Everyone here has given 150% of themselves!

"As KATAKLYSM turns twenty next year, we want to be remembered as the band who never gave up and faced the odds. This explosive slab of metal will lead scene for future conquests and not be forgotten ever. The music, the vocals and the production are all top notch. The mix is the hands of Tue Madsen as we speak and we have full confidence in him. He did a wonderful job on our 'In The Arms of Devastation' album so be prepared!

"'Heaven's Venom' will be out August 20th in Europe and August 24th in America and the band will be promoting the new album with Ozzfest and dates with DEVILDRIVER this August/September."

Tentative songtitles set to appear on "Heaven's Venom" include "Soul Made of Shrapnel", "Blind Savior", "Hail the Renegade" and "Push the Venom".

KATAKLYSM: New album title

Canadian extreme metallers KATAKLYSM have set "Heaven's Venom" as the title of the follow-up to 2008's "Prevail", tentatively due in October 2010 via Nuclear Blast Records.

Commented guitarist Jean-Francois Dagenais: "This album will be different than 'Prevail', but will still have the classic KATAKLYSM trademarks and hooks. You will see a much more intricate record than we've done in the past. It will contian some really fast and dynamic parts, but we will also aim on a very melodic-driven record and it will contain lots of technical parts as well that we haven't explored much lately. And no worries, the bone-crushing grooves are always a must with KATAKLYSM and will be present. I've also seen Maurizio's [Iacono, vocals] lyrics for this album so far and let me tell you that they hit really hard. I know it's a very personal album to him as he is going through some tough times in his personal life. So I'm not worried on what he will bring to this record. So expect a very real, aggressive and determined KATAKLYSM album!

"We know we have set the bar high for ourselves, but we are confident to deliver the goods once again.

"On the production end, I will handle the recording as usual, but
for the mix we have decided to enlist Tue Madsen from Denmark. We feel he captured best the band's sound on 'In The Arms Of Devastation'. We feel it's a winning team and we're gonna make sure you have the best-sounding record to date."

"Prevail" was honored in the "Album Of The Year" in the "Metal/Hardcore" category at the Quebec Indie Music Awards (GAMIQ), an awards show that recognizes achievements by Quebec independent artists. The event was held in September 2008 at the Corona Theatre in Montreal and was produced by the Quebec Independent Music Association, which is also behind the Montreal International Music Initiative (MIMI).

KATAKLYSM: 'Much More Intricate' album

Canadian extreme metallers KATAKLYSM are writing material for the follow-up to 2008's "Prevail" album, tentatively due in late summer/early fall 2010 via Nuclear Blast Records.

KATAKLYSM vocalist Maurizio Iacono will reveal the new album title on Christmas Day.
