The Devil’s Blood have received a lot of positive press for their album "The Thousandfold Epicentre" and much of it is warranted. The band has an almost Folk Rock type style that translates into a laid back approach that stimulates quite a few senses regardless. It’s a somewhat psychedelic trip that recalls older rock bands and this is a neat diversion to a lot of the metal that I listen too.

There is still a reasonable amount of guitar crunch to be found regardless. The songs evoke a euphoric emotion when listening to them and entrance within subtle rhythms. They are also bolstered by the talents of a solid female vocalist whose voice is appropriately subdued compared to the rest of the music. The whole album has a relaxed feeling to it overall. This is a shown from the very beginning and carries on throughout the length of the material. Some highlights are tracks like 'She', which has incredibly addictive vocals and melodies, particularly during its chorus and ending segments. This leads to the biggest problem of the release as well, however. It can become a tad boring at times because the band is on such a low key note constantly.

For the most part there are many moments to be enchanted by and a nice rock vibe permeates the album. The melodies on the album that seem initially simple become much more involving on repeated listens. On the whole, there is plenty to like on "The Thousandfold Epicentre" for fans of both rock and heavy metal alike.
