MetalBite Review by JD on 5/14/2012
I get excited when I come across a band that I have not heard before... guess that is why I do this review thing. It has happened again, I got a band that I have never even heard about, not even a small word - and I am stoked.

Finnish Death Metal is nothing new, as this country is a monumental force in the genre and has some of the best acts in the business... but this band surprises me. Evemaster is much more than DM, it is much more. Sometimes Evemasterís music is dark and brooding as a slow moving thunderstorm over a solitary lake and then turns into a overpowering and explosive wall of chainsaw guitars and attacking bass and drums only to turn almost symphonic at times. It creates the mood for a very dark story as set out by the lyrics.

The examples of this beast of a band is set in the number nine - which is the number of tracks on the album "III" and it is nine that is good on this album. From the ethereal beginning of 'Enter', which quickly morphs into a caldron of the most brutal Death Metal to the half Symphonic and half Progressive heaviness of 'New Age Dawns' this album moves and shifts, yet seems cohesive from start to finish. Musicianship fuels all of the album, and makes the very overt heaviness seem even more heavy.

Got to say that this album is one of the best albums of the year so far and is pushing for a spot on my all time Death Metal list. Each track seems to be completely alive, each one having a life that pulses with barbaric power that I have been searching for. I found that Evemaster have four other full albums out there, and I think I need them all.... even though I think that this will be my favorite after hearing the rest.

To use a baseball metaphor, they have hit an impressive Grand Slam, and the world cheers.
