Origin showed a lot of potential with their self-titled debut, but with their sophomore effort, “Informis, Infinitas, Inhumanitas” they have proven to be a far more lethal combination than anyone could have possibly imagined. These guys are not here to impress you with fancy melodies or to confuse you by incorporating an overwhelming amount of other genres into their music. Origin's goal is simple: to take you on a death metal roller coaster-ride from start to finish.

The music on this disc can best be described as extreme death metal with the spontaneity of grind. The guitars, bass, and drums are incredibly fast and technical. The drum playing is handled by expert skinsman, John Longstreth. Here he pulls off just about everything from insane snare triplets to ridiculous blasts, yet his performance still shows off plenty of diversity as well. James Lee is the band's new vocalist and he does an excellent job. Both the guitarists assist in the vocal attack making the music that much more dangerous.

Origin has grown up a bit with this album in a way and is becoming quite a powerful force within the death metal sub genre. With the way these guys are advancing within the ranks the future looks bright indeed.

Be warned though. This music is not for everybody. I recommend “Informis, Infinitas, Inhumanitas” only to those who enjoy extreme metal played at lightning speeds. The cool thing about these guys is that they are still able to show a good deal of diversity even though the music they play can be quite limiting. So if grinding death metal is your cup of tea, then this may be one of your favorite discs of the year. Definitely one of the top extreme death metal albums of the year so far!

Bottom Line: Step aside Krisiun! These guys are taking over!
