MetalBite Review by JD on 8/24/2016
Thrashcore is a style I am not fully up on but it is one genre that makes me curious to see what makes this offshoot of metal tick. I loved many of the old crossover acts like the titanic moshers DRI and the much more brutal assault of Carnivore so I hoped it would be like it.

Out of France, comes this vicious hardcore punk act, La Horde which adds one remarkable ingredient in their recipe for their aggressive music: brutal thrash. Combining the two is not a new concept by a long shot but I am curious if this French outfit can deliver a twist like some of the ones who made the crossover relevant.

I was pleasantly surprised with the musicality of the material La Horde as a whole, even if my French knowledge is very limited. Songs like 'Coma' and 'Nous Savions' show the band handling their instruments with precision and still pounding out the punk fueled savageness. There are a handful of songs that could have been better and one that was the disappointment of the whole album, not to mention the recording could have been way better. Despite these very glaring drawbacks, the album as a whole was very impressive.

Like crossover acts or not, this could be interesting for most, but it does not appeal to all. It was a great marriage of two very aggressive forms of music, but not one that was stellar. It is at its simplest to explain, worth the time to at least check out.
