First of all, if you haven't add this album to your collection I'm telling you, GO GET IT NOW!!!
Well, is there anything that I have left to say? I mean this is an Iron Maiden album, and as always it's great, so what's there to say?
The first song "Wildest Dream" which is the first single off this album I think is the only song that is not made by standards of Maiden. And I wonder how they released it as the first single?! "Rainmaker" which is going to be the second single, I think is the best song on this record. It's fast, melodic and Dickinson has done the hell of job on vocals. "No More Lies" is heavy but it still got great melodic sound. "Monstegur" is super heavy which I think is not what maiden need to be doing. "Gates of Tomorrow" sounds like songs on X-Factor, still good, but pesonally I like Maiden with Dickinson better! ;) As it gets closer to the end songs are getting slower but super melodic which I think is kinda ironic. "Journeyman" is one of the best songs on this album. All right don't scream! I know it's not fast and heavy but hey it makes the album dynamic.
Bottom Line: Awesome. It's a great thing to see after almost 30 years Maiden still rocks, and it rocks hard. Makes us hope other legends like Metallica open their eyes and make something that's worth listening.

This is the best Iron Maiden album I've ever seen. You can't really find anything as good as this. Every song exept Wildest Dreams are just so great that I really can't get a word out of my mouth. When I bought the single Wildest Dreams I prepared for the worst. I thought Wildest Dreams was the best song on the album but I was wrong. It's the worst. When I listened to Rainmaker I was stunned. The song is simple, but it still brings out the best sides of Iron Maiden. I'm not going to start telling everything about every track on the album becouse I know every human on this planet should buy this album no matter what. Up The Irons! These boys never grow too old!

I was completely impressed by this album and its very rare these days that an album can move you in some way. Make no mistake, Iron Maiden are at the top of the game and DOD proves it. We get all the metal crunch we could ask for on an Iron Maiden album. Wildest dreams, Rainmaker, Age of innocence, Gates of Tommorow are all classic maiden but its the new "mature" songs with the orchestral backing like Dance of death and Paschendale which will really capture you. Adrian, Janick and Dave have on this album experimented more with the 3 guitar line up more than Brave New world and seem very confident with it and a special mention has to go to Bruce Dickinson for an outstanding vocal performance on this album. Thumbs up in all areas. This is an album which will stand the test of time.

There are already millions of reviews of this album posted on the net, so I'm not going to ad anything. Yes, my Metal Brethren, this is a godly masterpiece through-and-through and it is the best Maiden album since 1988's "Seventh son..." disc !!! Yes it's true !! But, the thing that delighted me the most is the fact that this albums kicks the living shit out of Metallica's "St.Anger" - people are always citing these two bands as the biggest Metal bands in the world, but as far as I'm (and millions of other metalheads) concerned there's only 1 true and supreme Metal Band - Iron Fucking Maiden !!! If you can't face that, then just climb into your cozy little bed and .... DIE !!! ALL HAIL MAIDEN !! |

I say this is the best Maiden album ever. I've been a fan for a long time, and I have not heard something like this. This is a masterpiece for sure. If you like MUSIC in general, you should get this. Dance of Death shows Maiden is never finished and never will be finished. And if you doubt that Bruce is a genious, then you don't deserve to live! The presence of him adds such class to music that it's hard to find anywhere else. While Metallica, the other legendary metal band, blew royal butt with their latest and lamest effort, St. Anger; Iron Maiden gained more and more respect from any music fan with Dance of Death.
This gets a 20! Anything less than this is just not fair.
UP THE MOTHERFU**ING IRONS!! \m/ |

I have to admit it took me a long time to warm up to this album. When I first got it I was very disppointed because I wanted to hear something more like their previous album, Brave New World. I put it away for quite awhile until I started reading some of the positive reviews for it and decided to give it a second chance. After a few good listening sessions, I did discover that this album has quite a few gems on it that I somehow missed the first time around. The two top songs on the album in my opinion are the war themed Pashendale and Montsegur, the latter utilizing one of the heaviest riffs Ive heard Maiden play since the old days of Number of the Beast and Powerslave. The Maiden boys also heartily display their hard rock roots in the energetic rockers, Age of Innocence and New Frontier. Elsewhere, there is the double bass driven (rare for Nicko) headbanger Face In The Sand and the fantastically defiant, acoustically driven jewel, The Journeyman. The only low points I could establish with this second go-around starts with the too-formulaic rocker Wildest Dreams, No More Lies with its unoriginal and all-too-repititive chorus, the trite Gates of Tomorrow and a title track that seems long just for the sake of being long. Overrall, a good album by the Maiden boys personified by the typically great performance from everyone including Bruce, who seems to have put away his patented air-raid siren vocals for a more focused and streamlined singing style reminiscent of his solo works. I give it a 7.5-8.0 grade. |
