In there first release, The sins of thy beloved created a uprising in female vocalists. Songs such as All alone which featured her saprano voice moving with an incorporated piano made people listen to her. Unfortunately the lyrics in that album are hard to catch and to understand.
The originality in this field is also lacking. Most female vocalists in this catagory create a "like" sound to each other. Each may have a different tone, but the way in which the voice is used is very similar. Bands such as Within Temptation, and The Gathering are the BEST examples of this. They Try to reach the highest threashold of the voice, and carry it on like a celtic ballad. Doom listeners deserve to hear a variation of voices. From deep and melancholy to the high saprano voices of angels.
The singer of this band must show me that she can reach both levels before i will consider her truely great. I want to hear her prove to me that she can sing in a range of octaves. But most of all I want to hear What she is saying to the listeners of this album |
