 Review this album.
MetalBite Review by Aaron on 12/18/2004

Simply put, Demigod is one of the best Death Metal albums put out this year. Song for song, Nergal and Co. unleash a darker, more stark assault on the listener than was experienced before, even with the mighty Zos Ka Cultus. In Demigod, Nergal's wide interest in mythology touches down up on Egyptian myth with songs such as the opener “Sculpting the Throne ov Seth” and “The Reign ov Shemshu-hor.” While it would be easy to make a quick assumption they’re aspiring to be the new Nile and despite the fact that Nile’s own Karl Sanders plays on “Xul,” the album maintains Behemoth’s signature sound, combining militant roars with surgically precise riffs and blast beats they’ve become known for. An interesting addition to Behemoth’s musical repertoire is the utlilization of acoustic classical-style guitar throughout the album; it hasn’t really been used since the Grom album and provides an atmospheric counterpoint to the utter brutality of the album. Nergal’s vocals are much more enraged, much thicker than in previous recordings and while it may detract somewhat from trying to make out some of the most beautiful and savage lyrics written it does not detract from the delivery. The production on the album is noteworthy as well, a clear, atmospheric treatment of practically every note of every song by the hand of Daniel Bergstrand, who has worked with bands such as In Flames, Strapping Young Lad and Soilwork to name only a few. From every aspect of the album, Demigod is incredible.

In terms of standout songs on the album, there aren’t any; all ten tracks of the album are sheer epic Death Metal at its finest and to pick one that rises above the others would require wallowing in technical trivialities that would take too much away from the complete enjoyment of the album. Any fans of Behemoth, those who love solid brutal Death Metal in general and those who have a loose tooth that needs to come out will not be disappointed in this album. Demigod is an exemplary piece of work.

Now this is what Death Metal is all about, Pure aggression and musicianship.

Pure musicionship? Give me a break.Nergal and co. did nothing new on this album.Half of this stuff should be on ZKC, the production is over produced and the vocals so layered together that its just sad.But what do you expect since the band spent like 6 months in the studio??But in my opinion that just a "bit" too much. The artwork and band photos are superb ,one of the best I'v seen but besides that the music is weak with almost no complexity and I rather listen to other polish bands like Decapitated or Lost Soul or Zos Kia Cultus than the sad over produced Demigod.

I have to agree with the one who said "nothing new". That's exactly right, there is absolutely NOTHING new here. In other words, you've already heard Demigod if you own ZKC. I can't say it's bad, because it's really not bad. But from a band that has potential you'd expect something new. Sure the artwork looks great and all, but come on; come on now, give me something new.
If you are a fan, you'll enjoy this. But if you are wondering what's new on Behemoth's latest effort here's your answer: NOTHING, but it sounds good.

6.9 out of 10, at best.

lestat & cannibal are obviously too busy making love to men to know what they're talking about.

This album is killer, it isn't original but it isn't exactly easy to come out with originality when dealing with death metal... This album is a breath of fresh air and chaos.

Ide have to agree, death metal has its times and sometimes it doesn't. But Demigod is definitly worth buying, the musicianship is incredible, the cultural influence is intriguing. THIS ALBUM FUCKING SHREDS. SO BUY IT

This album is real killer. There are some pieces of shit like Toward Babylon, but most of those songs are headcrushers. My own favourite is The Reign of Shemsu Hor, epic as a Nile song and powerful as Behemoth is always. Salut for Nergal, Inferno, Seth and Orion for piece of music that I like to listen many times a day. Polish death is killing.

I don''t know what it is with all you pieces of shit going on about "nothing has changed, this is the same, my poridge is too hot, my dick is too small" go fuck your self.
It doesn't matter if they stay the same through 100 albums good music is simply good music. You can't just not like this album cause "it's the same as "zos kia cultus" as some fag up there said. Get it through your head GOOD MUSIC IS GODD MUSIC it's as simple as that. There is no other way to put it. You's are all trying to sound smart and like you know about music you don't know shit.
GOOD FUCKING MUSIC IS GOOD FUCKING MUSIC, MOTHER FUCKERS

Behemoth's latest, Demigod, could be best described as a virulent, adroit, bludgening of the senses.
After listening to this cd from start to finish I felt utterly eviscerated; my senses fell numb, like I had been mentally defiled by an evil ,enigmatic apparition from the deepest, darkest reaches of Hell.

Demigod combines technical prowess ,sacrosanct speed, and apocolyptic atmosphere to create a unique and decedent surgical incision of palpable proportions.

Nergal, Inferno and Orion are in devilishly delirious form.
This cd rings with amazing clarity despite its intrinsict breakneck speed.
You will intimately experience every blast beat from Inferno's drums, every power chord from Nergals six string sinning machine and the world shaking savagery spewing forth from Orions brutal four sting.

Be warned my friends; limbs will crack, pulses will quicken, eyes will dilate, hair will be standing on its very end.

Words will no longer serve a purpose and ultimately fall short in describing this cd any futher.
Dont walk, run !!!

Another great work released by Behemoth. Although there is not much change in style from the previous album, Demigod is more Blasphomous and Raw lyrically. It compells the listener to give god above, the double middle finger! Behemoth by far is a force that has been around for a while, and Demigod keeps the band in your face! I recomend this album to all new and faithfull Behemoth listeners. A Serving Slave to Behemoth, Ed

These guys are sick in the head and quite possibly those type of people who they say,
"Should have stones attached to their feet and dropped to the bottom of the ocean."

Sick. talented but...sick.
