Russian metal is some of the worlds most caustic and devastatingly brutal music that you can find on any continent. Russian metallists seem to rewrite the rules on metal, and then put them back in shape it a way that is so heavy and extreme that could be used by any military in any theatre of war today.
Out of the sweat and blood coated mosh pits of Russia, comes a band that just oozes pure extreme power and talent for inflicting pain. Grenouer
is a four piece outfit has been around for awhile in the European scene, especially in the old Warsaw Block Nations, but they are pretty much unknowns over here in North America. I am now really thinking that is about to change for this wickedly heavy band.
Combining somewhat opposite musical factions of Death Metal, elements of mid tempo Thrash with the wall of pain and grind of Industrial the band created a wicked hybrid music that is as savage as any wild beast. Titanic tracks such as the melodic pummelling of ‘Mercenary Field’ not to mention the Industrial grinding might of 'The Choice Of The Flesh’ leaves you wanting more that this 9 song CD.
Even though I am not a fan of the Industrial music scene as a whole this I actually liked. Death metallers will love this opus to destruction, war and pain. It is a CD that oozes originality that is matched only by its sheet destructive attacking talent. This CD is a showcase that this style of extreme music is not always about a wall of metallic noises - talent is first and foremost.
The North American metal scene should watch out now... the Russians are coming, and they are kicking ass and taking many names.
