MetalBite Review by Tobias on 2/8/2001
While Gemini may be the best produced album from a band that has seemingly rediscovered their roots in the likes of Kraftwerk, the overall concept of the sound is becoming a little tiring. Perhaps the worst thing to happen to Atrocity was Rammstein’s movement to the public forefront of the industrial-metal scene.

While neither band were the progenitors of the genre, they both made it a much more visible force by driving a stronger metal sound into the groundwork that had been laid out by bands such as Ministry and Front 242. Gemini is another entry in the book of hybrid music and unfortunately it doesn’t really offer anything new to its listeners.

Most of Gemini shows its intensity to be mid-scale, with very little movement up and down that scale, reminding me of the consistency of a Robert Palmer album.

I think what bugs me the most about this album is that the overall sound doesn’t break away from the world’s stereotype vision of Germany: strong, mechanical, methodical and resistant to change. The whole mechano-metal sound was fun while it lasted, but I think I’d rather dust off my old Skinny Puppy albums instead.

Bottom Line: If you're still lapping up the remains of the mechano-metal scene, you may have found an album that will raise your willy. Otherwise, Gemini is dissapointingly uninventive.
