Review by JD on October 19, 2008.

For twenty years now, this Louisiana bayou based grinding metal band (with the name taken from a 1970's cult film) has been cracking craniums with there southern fried sludge/grind/thrash metal that transcends any pigeon hole you want to put them in. The have been there for a hell of a long time, and they have popped up again to assault you.

I have listen to this amazing band for years by now (1995's 'Pussy Soul' is still one of my favourite albums) and you can’t imagine how happy I was when I saw that I was going to review them. ‘Inevitable Collapse In The Presence Of Conviction' is a clear classic SG album from start to finish, and it shows that the band had changed and grown while never once selling themselves short.

The Soilent boys have never have failed to impress me every time I have put on any of their releases . Melodic yet so crushingly heavy... SG always delivers their own brand of music with class and heaviness that is rolled up in their usual intelligence and peppered through with their no so subtle tongue-in-cheek wit. They make you want to bang your head, deeply think and simply laugh all at the same time.

With so many great songs on this album, I can’t just pick one or two to rave about. Each one seems to have a life of it’s own. Musically, they are some of the best musicians around... creating catchy yet very bludgeoning sonic assaults that screams out for another play. All I can say is pick it up, and eat it all up as well (movie pun intended).
