Towards Global Holocaust have already done this review for me. Their MySpace page has written ‘Sounds Like: a bloody mess.’ In the case of their self-released EP "Ever Onwards…" the duo took the words right out of my mouth. Towards Global Holocaust has a Blackened Death Metal sound, with Thrash moments, themed around the destruction of humanity via various forms of incendiarism. The vocals extinguished my interest in this EP as soon as they started. The second track, ‘Issuing Forth the Decree Of Blood And Fire’ has a sweet Thrash opening that seemed promising, but was quickly demolished by jarring, androgynous screams. "Ever Onwards…" has a number of good riffs scattered throughout its short play time, but has not managed to combine them into anything beyond the equivalent of your aunt’s patchwork quilt (you know, that one with soccer-print fleece). This EP feels like the Virginia duo is breaking into a new pair of boots that aren’t comfortable enough to wear all day yet. Not to mention the mixing is sub-par at best. What I really don’t get is that according to their CD jacket, all this material was written between 1996 and 2008. No more Denny’s napkins and Post-It note jotting for you two! That is plenty of time to get your shit together and crank out something solid.
