Catalepsy’s debut album "Iniquity" is sure to please Deathcore fans, and Deathcore fans alone. This Orlando, Florida based band meets the genre’s expectations in pounding breakdowns, guitars that ride the scale and vocals that will make your ears bleed.
Vocalist Drew Carothers with his naturally gruff tone does well tea-partying between growls and screams throughout the entire album. Lyrically, there isn’t much going on in the first and second person questioning god content of "Iniquity". This matters little though if you’re just in for the dance/mosh stuff, because Catalepsy’s sound proves great for that. The song writing in and of its self is smooth sailing and everyone can play their instruments! Unfortunately, despite the technical quality of this album, there isn’t anything new or at least particularly engaging that would make me pick it up more than once. The depth and true grit of "Iniquity" reflects the entertainment culture their hometown is so well known for. But don’t take my word for it; ask the fashion labels who endorse them.
For fans of Acacia Strain, Job For A Cowboy, Suicide Silence.
