MetalBite Review by Emma on 11/16/2009
Tardive Dyskinesia is one of the more unfortunate side effects (of many) of anti-psychotic medications geared toward controlling dopamine levels. Brought on by long-term use and high dosages, this disorder causes involuntary movements of the face, tongue and/or limbs. Once an individual becomes victim to this side effect, it cannot be reversed.

Tardive Dyskinesia is also known to manifest in other forms, namely Greek Deathcore/Nu-metal-y bands. This form of the disorder is often caused by a desire to create popular metal sounds, spun in a slightly different form. The nu-er form of the disorder has yet to be understood by the metal community (and no real attempts to do so will be made). Because of this, many people do not recognize the symptoms of nu Tardive Dyskinesia. This is a problem that can result in its victims receiving help too late.

So how do you know if you or others suffer from this nu disorder? First, listen. Do you or someone you know hear the sound of chugging trashcan guitars assaulting your eardrums while they are complemented by cries of the damnable? Does it sound like you’ve heard it before? If so, contact your auditory care professional immediately. Other signs to look for are bass you can actually hear and a sweet melodic segment in track ‘Brains Trust’.

But, be careful not to confuse your symptoms with Slipknot or other mall metal bands, as Tardive Dyskinesia has distinctly similar effects on the victim’s auditory system. Tardive Dyskenia’s prosaic but well played album "The Sea Of See Through Skins" will be a pass for most metal heads but will be eaten up by fans of Deathcore, Nu-metal, and anything of a similar quality.
