MetalBite Review by JD on 9/18/2010
With all of the Nu-Metal, Death and other extreme sides of metal as well... sometimes I want to go back to something simple and powerful. I crave a simple melody, heavy and catchy riffing and vocals that are not like a blow-torch to the genitals. Enter the band Division, no bullshit, let it all hang out Heavy Metal.

NWOBHM styled metal is back to show the power and passion and a good melody is still alive and kickin’. Division clearly are products of metal’s heyday, and they truly have mastered every little nuance. The band is clearly influenced by some classic bands. Shades Of Iron, Maiden, Satavage, Pantera, Judas Priest and some thrashier edges like German metallic legends Helloween or speed like Slayer in places... combine that with vocals closely sounding like Geoff Tate (Queensryche) meeting a very angry Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden)... you get the multifaceted sound of this band.

Songs like the thrashy yet catchy ‘The Collector’ blast you while to the down and dirty groove of ‘Gemini’ sear into your brain. They know how to pen a riff that is both familiar yet impressively new as well. The high light for me was the massive infectious yet powerfully penned thrash masterpiece ‘Short Attention Span Society’ was the one song the caught my attention. It has the perfect balances of heaviness, melody and smarts.

Filled with fiery guitars and a Mosh-till-you drop mentality, the album begs for headbanging and horns held high even when you are listening to it alone. It is a massive metallic album that combines old school power with the freshness of the new millennium strength. Division deserves to be large and in charge. Most bands today , I don’t think even have a clue to deliver this sort of quality metal.
