Review by Adam M on July 29, 2025.

This was an interesting album that was very important for power metal because of its catchy approach. It is a memorable and fantastic experience.  There is a whimsical and fantasy filled feeling that is very notable for power metal and one that has a nice cheesy feeling to it.  It is not the greatest album ever, but definitely one of the best of the subgenre.

The musicianship on the album is solid with punchy guitars and a great vocal performance by Michael Kiske that is quite wonderful and marvellous to behold. The entire affair is also nicely produced and a flashy display of the band’s talent.  There is very little to dislike in terms of musical performances.

In terms of flaws, it is definitely an album that is on the cheesy side of things with a feeling that is very light-hearted compared to a normal full=length effort.  It is also not as distinctive feeling as the older Judas Priest and Iron Maiden recordings and comes off a bit faint feeling.

All in all, this was a really infectious and interesting sounding platter that was great to hear and a welcoming experience for a metal album.  It is not the great album in metal by any means, but a strong testament to good song-writing and a sense of melody.
