Review by Adam M on December 19, 2017.

Dyscarnate perform a very aggressive form of death metal. It is relentless in nature and makes a huge presence. Right from Of Mice and Mountians the band establishes their huge and powerful sound for everyone to take notice. The guitar riffs are massive and gain a lot of attention. The vocals are shouted and fit in with the music, but aren’t as special as the guitar riffs themselves are. The drumming forms a nice backbone for the remainder of the death metal assault.

It would seem like the band would add melody and give themselves a more melo-death flavor, but that is not the case as these songs constantly bring the waves of anger towards the listener. The style of aggressive music has not been performed much this year, thus this album was a welcome change of pace to much of my listening experiences from the year. It’s an album that has it’s own distinctive aura and style, but there is still a problem with the music not being the most original in the world. The work from Hour of Penance from earlier in the year also has a death metal flavor although it is entirely more brutal than what is on offer here. Still, it goes to show that a band needs to do a lot to make itself interesting and stand out from the pack. What the band has done here makes them stand apart form other acts slightly, but doesn’t completely win over the proceedings into new territories entirely. It is thus only partially successful in its purpose.

I still love the power the band brings to the table and these songs breathe through with energy and life. Those looking for quality death metal would be well served to check out this release from Dyscarnate.   With All Their Might is a solid and well-conceived death metal experience.
