This album changed the Baroness sound slightly by introducing a more epic nature/  This was a nice change for the band as they made their progression.  There is a more esoteric vibe and it is really groovy.  The band is able to establish a catch rhty like on no other album and are very interesting to listen to.

The musicianship is strong with neat vocals atop a groovy set of guitar forming a nice mood.  There isn;t nearly any watnkiering as the songs are tight and well-structured.  The esoteric vibe makes the songs vibrant and colourful sounding.  There isn’t anything spectacular over their Purple album for example, but this is still solid stuff.

If there is a flaw to be found it is in how the album Purple outdoes it in terms of fun factor .  This is more of a chill album, but still a very successful one.  It is really interesting and epic in scope making it appealing and wonderful. If the band innovated more they would be more interesting, but this is still compelling stuff.

In conclusion we have a very solid album with stoner grooves and plenty of exciting rhythms.  If is special and holds a high place in their discography.  It might nit be their absolute best album, but it is one of their best.

Rating: 7.5/10
