This album was very efficient at establishing Decapitated’s legacy with its aggressive nature. It was a very punishing effort that is one of kind and is very effective. This album was important for other bands like Behemoth and Nile in the future because of its one of kind style. It is a harsh yet dynamic affair that is quite revolutionary and important to the genre.
The musicianship is stellar with fast guitar playing and punishing drumming. The vocals are hash yet efficient and fill out the musical performances nicely. The production is fine and would be eclipsed by other Decapitated albums that aren’t as interesting musically. This is still an extremely solid type of death metal album that is tight and well performed.
In terms of flaws, there is a lack of the futuristic aspect of their next album Nihility. It is not as nicely produced as some of their other album either and thus not a perfect death metal record. It if modernly done as something like the newer Nile albums and loses a couple of steps to that band.
Overall, this was a a solid and enjoyable death metal record has the right mixture of aggression with dynbamics to make a positive impact in their discography. It is not entirely magnificent by any means, but a solid album and one that fans of their Nihihlity work will like.
