Bombus performs a very Motorhead oriented take on heavy metal. There is a groove to their sound that is very infectious. It makes the sound huge and full of life overall.

The vibe is dirty and raucous and makes for the liveliness that the recording obtains. Like Motorhead, the songs are of the standard verse, chorus variety and vary little from a standard song structure. But, like that band, when the outfit stumbles upon something catchy it is carried forward into the forefront. This can be seen from the track Rust, for example, which sways forward in an addictive manner. The songs are certainly catchy and manage to ingrain themselves in your brain. The song Deadweight, for example, has a manner of being memorable for the listener. The remainder of the tracks here are similarly memorable and will be playing in your head for some time to come. Not only that, but the band seems to be having a lot of fun with the songs, which lends it a comparison to AC/DC. This aspect of the band permeates their sound and allows them to perform the material with excitement and energy. The problem here is that the music is rather unoriginal. It has a vibe of being done before and there is certainly an undistinctive sound present overall. The songs are also rather short so they don’t have a lasting impact. These are small flaws when one considers all of the enjoyment that the band creates. There is an infectious aspect to the outfit that is simply undeniable. The amount of fun that is to be had outweighs any other facet of the music and makes this a great listen.

I simply had the time of my life listening to these songs and they are very unforgettable in nature. Repeat Until Death comes recommended to fans of Motorhead and AC/DC, but also just those that like an unadulterated sound to their music.

Insision is from Sweden. Now, before you hit the back button on your browser, just listen. Insision might as well not be labeled as being from Sweden at all, because they sound like they could be trailing behind North American acts such as Nile, Morbid Angel, Immolation and such, if not teaching them a few things. Their debut album "Beneath The Folds of Flesh" is quickly gaining this quintet quite a bit of recognition both in and outside of their homeland, and for obvious reasons.

There are only ten seconds on this thirty-minute album that are not drilling holes through your skull. The rest of the time Insision just lay down their cacophonous drumming, guitar riffs of wrath, and gutter vocals from hell.

The drumming is chaotic and well done. It's not really too captivating, due to the lack of creativity, but it is intense and it does get the job done. The two guitarists put out grinding riff after grinding riff. By the time you come out of "Beneath The Folds of Flesh" you'll either be dead or severely beaten. We need more guitarists like Johansson and Brynedal. Their ideas are full of energy and life, not to mention that they’re stylish and memorable.

While there’s absolutely nothing about “Beneath The Folds Of Flesh” that causes one to think about the homeland of the Gotherburg subgenre, Insision seemed to have picked up on one thing – catchiness. No, we’re not talking soaring melodic guitar lines and bombastic vocals. Their music just has what it takes to make you turn to your death metal cohorts and say, “Now that’s a good riff!”

Bottom Line: “Beneath The Folds Of Flesh” is most definitely one of the better death metal releases of 2002 along with Immolation’s masterful “Unholy Cult.” If there’s one thing you forget to do, make sure that it’s not forgetting to check Insision out.
