Fear Factory is a band with no possible label. One that moves from techno type speed thrash to death metal with a blink of an eye. This is the band's first c.d. and my last of theirs to get which is very odd for me. To my surprise this one goes beyond anything Fear Factory has ever done in their whole career so far.

The riffs in this are totally amazing. This album includes growling vocals mixed with clean vocals and a large and very surprising usage of blast beats. Overall, I am very impressed. I just wish their other albums sounded like this one. Well crafted American style aggresive death metal w/ a little bit of harmony and groove make this debut a gem. Too bad they were never able to recreate an album of this intensity again. What a shame.

Bottom Line: If you like brutal music, this is for you!

Rating: 9 out of 10
