This album changed the game for the band Celtic Frost by making their sound more avant-garde and influencing many band such Arcturus.  It is an important album because it tries different things like the song "Mexican Radio".  This was still a thrashy type of album with plenty of headbanger, but was more thoughtful and displayed a band taking risks and trying to be more innovative.

The musicianship on the album is strong a more developed style shining through and making this an interesting album.  The guitar work is thoughtful and ahead of its time.  The drumming is great, but it is Tom G. Warrior’s vocals that steal the show here.  He has a great voice and adds character to the songs.

The downside to the album is that is is not as aggressive and appealing as To Mega Therion and this does fall a bit flat.  It could be improved upon with more structuring of the album and a greater focus on the production values to be found.  This is still a noteworthy album and revolutionary to the style.

In conclusion, this is a very strong work and revolutionary to heavy metal.  The band would go on to produce Monotheist, another interesting work, but this is perhaps where the sound at their peak point.  Fans of Celtic Frost should check this out as should fans of interesting music.
