Requiem (Live At Roadburn 2019)

This album is a very strong one for At the Gates and continues their legacy.   By now their sound is legendary and only in need of minor upgrades and this album shows itself to be another movement forward for the band although they have already achieved a great deal of perfection with Slaughter of the Soul.

Instrumentally, this album is very good and quite the spectacle to behold.  The guitars are fierce and melodic at the same time and weave a wave of sound.  The singing is spot on as usual from Lindberg and quite fierce.  The band is tight as ever.

The problem with the album is that they have done similar stuff in the past and there is nothing incredibly new to be found here.  This shows itself to be more of the same for the band and simply another strong release from them.  However, it is nothing new and we have all heard similar stuff before.

In conclusion, this album is quite a strong one in the catalogue of At the Gates, but at the same time nothing new and simply another strong effort by the band. If this is what they are to be remember by, all is fine, but this is not as timeless as Slaughter of the Soul.
