As far as I know, Under Assault is a quartet and the guys hail from Paraguay. Thrash metal from South America often means a relentless and brutal dose of complete devastation, but "Deadly Experiments" sounds rather clean. Bands like Bonded by Blood could have been an inspiration for Under Assault, because the guitar lines bring liveliness, pressure and melodic elements together. They sound approproately sharp, they cut and rasp and drill with pleasure. Little gems like "Destabilized Society" are the result.

The song boasts with energy. It goes straight forward and relies on high velocity. Rebellious vocals and hardcore shouts of the background singers are included as well. A short solo also shows up, but the track does not suffer from any useless fat. This goes for the entire so-called full-length; a playtime of less than 24 minutes has not much in common with my understanding of a complete album. Anyway, a brief yet effective infusion with thrash metal can make one's or at least my day as well and due to the band's technical skills and musical maturity, I listen with joy to precisely played material which simply does not intend to get boring. Okay, the lyrics are pretty delicate (to use a more polite term than idiotic), at least I am not interested in their "Masturbation" stories. But the music, in particular the big portion of jagged riffs, makes up for this and the song about wanking is probably not longer than the action they sing about. Coherent concept!

One of their "epic" tracks, "Mandatory Suicide" (glorious 3:22 minutes, only the restless closer is longer) illustrates that it would be great to get some more non-miniature tracks instead of three eruptions which pulverize themselves in less than two minutes. Do the guys love bands like Municipal Waste or even D.R.I. due to a certain punk attitude which shimmers through these pieces? I think so. However, let's get back to "Mandatory Suicide". I guess a minimally better known band has used this title already in 1988, but who cares about such incidental details? It has a dynamic structure, starting with stage-setting, heavy mid-tempo riffing and is ending up in high speed ecstasy. Okay, this is nothing unique, but it makes fun. And this is simultaneously my conclusion for the entire output.

By the way, a first short version of this review was published in Metalegion, but our highly appreciated editor credited it to another cool reviewer. Well, nobody is perfect, not even this always busy guy...
