The introductory tremolo riff of 'Beyond The Grave Of The Dead' reeks of that old familiar tri-tone that spawned all of heavy metal way back when. This first piece mostly dwells in a creeping 6/8 meter, which is an apt vehicle to convey the evil vibes these Peruvians put forth. I am reminded of the first Deicide record. Then they kick up the intensity several notches with some old school blasting and "Beneath The Remains" type thrashing, with the super low vocals drenched in reverb, no doubt extolling the virtues of the elder gods of Lovecraft or some other dark mythology. After they blast your ass for a bit, some deliciously distorted bass guitar bursts through the morass, and they ride a convincingly diabolical riff to the end, which unfortunately ends with a studio fade. Other than this small gripe, this is well executed OSDM.

Next up, we have 'Sepulchral Rites Of Damnation', which, after the demonic miasma of its intro, blasts out of the gate with reverence for thrash metal that seamlessly morphs back into death metal vibes. The vocals of Necromanza are tastefully guttural and unobtrusive across these two tracks. Where the dudes excel is in the aforementioned meter that was commonly utilized by early Death, Deicide, Morbid Angel, etc. I would describe the first song of this EP as ponderous, the second raging. This is a small sample size, but it does enough to pique my curiosity for future releases from these South American fiends. Also, Hell Trepanner is a pretty cool name, and the Wikipedia page for trepanning is totally metal. The Stone Age, man, damn.
