Review by Adam M on August 14, 2026.

This was a great album that has a flavour of being a morose doom release.  It is very doomy and despondent and has a nice feeling to it that is somewhat accessible and aided by female vocals that add character to the release.  The album is cathartic and has a very suffocating vibe to it.

The musicianship is very solid and has the ability to be interesting because there are two vocalists involved.  It is also cathartic and features a very morose mood that is bolstered by weeping guitars.  It is very heavenly sounding and this is aided by a good production job.

The problem with the disc lies in how it does not have emotional impact of some of My Dying Bride’s greatest material and is left to be somewhat subdued and not as fruitful as the work by that band.  This is still a fun album and well worth playing.

All in all this was a very good album with a morose aspect and solid performances.  It is still not the best doom album of recent times as that honour perhaps goes to Paradise Lost.  This could be bolstered by a superior concept and more thought into the mood created.  It is still very good.
