The Polish underground has been delivering top-notch death metal for years, and the debut demo from Lublin's Mangled Recrement is further proof that things are still boiling beneath the surface. The trio, whose members previously played in Leucotome and Toughness, embrace a no-compromise formula built on grime, heaviness, and authenticity. No unnecessary embellishments, just a clear respect for the genre's classics.

Over the course of sixteen minutes, the band delivers raw, heavily distorted death/grind, drawing both on the primitive brutality of Autopsy and Terrorizer and the more sinister atmospheres of Immolation and Undergang. The guitars cut through with short, catchy riffs, the rhythm section never lets up, and the whole thing is shrouded in an atmosphere straight out of the worst nightmares.

Despite the obvious influences, the material never feels like a carbon copy of familiar blueprints. Mangled Recrement have their own character and know exactly what kind of impact they want to make. This demo isn't trying to reinvent death/grind. Instead, it reminds us that when delivered properly, the genre's characteristic filth can still make a tremendous impression. A very promising start.
